Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative including angels, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in strength within the city.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure follow below.
The Warrior Group Revealed
The third episode ended with a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the main group to begin their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Considering a large ensemble, it was evident from the start that having everyone at one table would be impossible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three smaller tables: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for participants who enjoy a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.
Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem out of place, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the party knows exactly where to go next after a violent initial meeting with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, entering the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The antagonist then paid off his liabilities and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the urban center, with Cyd close behind.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each member has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
- Kattigan knows the region and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
- The warrior and The cleric, having defied his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their reputation as important members in House Halovar could assist the team access locations they usually can’t.
- Additionally, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The cleric defied the influential house and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This leaves them little choice but to travel to Timmony in quest for the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group will not appear next week, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Seekers and Planners groups.
